…ok I know it’s been Autumn for a while but it’s still H.O.T.!!! Last week I had an enormous amount of fun with a fantastic family holidaying on the Gold Coast. They had flown in from all corners of Australia for a rare get together and I think it’s fair to say they had a lot of laughs and made a lot of memories. And well, hopefully I helped a little with that too. Three generations – all funny, smiling people. Here is your sneak peek – thank you all for your hospitality (and an early morning cuppa!!).

I photograph lots of families which is a whole load of fun but I have to admit I love the change of pace that comes with shooting a newborn baby. It’s a rare treat to meet such a new soul – a genuine privilege This little guy was 7 days new when I captured these images and no doubt has changed so much already!

Well, it’s school holidays where life goes from busy to utterly insane! Unless, of course, a few thousand tonnes of dust blow in from the desert. Then everyone gets locked inside, watching the eerie light and picking fights with whichever sister is closest! I managed a short distraction by popping up my reflector and getting the girls to play ‘photographers’ with me hehe This is one of the shots we got – and shortly after it all turned to tears and tantrums! Oh well!

EDITED TO ADD: The Location for these shoots will be on one of the Northern Surf beaches; either at Southport SLSC or around Narrowneck at Main Beach. Confirmation closer to the time and with availablity of weather reports!

As someone who has lived on the coast for many years, there is one sad thing many of us have in common: our families live elseware. BUT! Not to despair! This year you can get both your yearly family portraits AND your Christmas cards dealt with in one fell swoop. I am about nothing if not multitasking and convenience!

With your mini session you can choose either 20 6×4 folded Christmas cards, 40 flat 6×4 Christmas cards OR if you would rahter something more, well, gifty, you can choose two mini accordian albums!

And here are what the mini accordian albums look like. They are imported directly from the USA and are not available in Australia unless your photographer has made the effort to find them and bring them over! They are 3″x3″ and are perfect as brag books for grandparents, aunt, uncles and god parents as they fit easily in pockets and bags. They also display nicely on your desk at work! (Please excuse my product photography!)

All costs are up front with no additional sitting or printing fees.

You will get:

A 1 hour session at the location of your choice for up to 4 people (within 40 minutes of the north end of the Gold Coast). I can even set up an outdoor studio for greater variety.

A private online gallery of 15 images to choose from

From your gallery, you choose 8 images. You will also receive them in black and white at no extra cost!

Once you have chosen your images they will go through a final edit for print and will be stored to an archival disk along with smaller web-ready files.

Packaged with your images is a detailed guide to printing your photos at easily accessible quality labs (and yes, I have tested them all!). A signed copyright release is also included for your convenience.

You will also receive printed 5×7 proofs of your chosen images.

How You Save Money

A 1 hour session is just long enough for one outfit of clothing – no time for changes

You get to print at discount prices and get as many prints as you want. Being Christmas, you can also use your file to have photo gifts or Christmas cards created. You have paid for the file and won’t have to pay professional prices for each and every print you get!

You pay for my time and talent for the photo shoot and the editing/processing but not the time it takes me to organise to have your prints made because you will do that part!

Between now and January I am building a new gallery to feature on my new website. I will do the Mini Christmas session for $125 if you sign a release to allow me to use your/your child’s images on my site! My use of them will be limited to showcasing my skills as a photographer. Don’t hesitate to mention this deal, I am looking for a wide variety of images and will happily accept any and all new faces!

This shot was inspired by a similar one on a forum I read. The original was of three siblings but it would have been pushing it to think I could get all three of mine to look at me all at the same time

I’ve been in a bit of a slump lately but yesterday I bought a set of actions for photoshop (it’s a camera-geek thing lol) and have spent some time experimenting with different post processing looks and feels. Here are a few photos given special treatment:

The actions are the “What a Rush” set by On The Spot Studio Web and Graphic Design. In order, I used Vanilla Bean, Candie’s Color Pop and Coffee Stains. I have loads more but they have other people’s kids in them and I need to speak to them about posting here. I am liking the variety and it has made processing my images a little more interesting!
