Archive for April, 2008

As promised, photos of one of the hats we got at the markets. My other models preferred not to join in at the mad hatter’s garden party. E is also on the verge of losing her very first tooth and agreed to have her tooth photographed (I wasn’t taking pictures of the hat you understand lol). I used Phaunt’s Sunshine in Your Hand Action on all of these which I am loving.

Market Day

April 27, 2008
We went down to the Bangalow Markets yesterday. It’s such a spectacle. Even if you don’t want to buy anything, the town and people watching opportunities are worth the drive. Actually the gigantic organic donuts are worth the drive. I’m all for any way of packaging a donut so that it seems healthy ;) Anyway, a photo – and hopefully more this week of the girls in their crazy knitted hats they chose there.

The Photo I Always Wanted

April 20, 2008

When I got my first camera and book about photography, there were photos of waterfalls with ‘soft’ water and I really wanted to have a go at getting one of my own. Well I finally found a little waterfall and shot my cotton wool waterfall. Yay! If you’re interested, this is part of the Nerang River that runs through the Numinbah Valley. And yes, it IS that gorgeous.

The Strawberry Farm

April 15, 2008

We went to visit the animals and eat ice cream at the Strawberry Farm on the weekend. It was a blast. There were a couple of geese who were hilarious and a rooster who could run like the wind – because he had to teehee! There were two calves and a load of goats. But those birds… one goose was cranky and his wife stood behind him nodding in agreement with all his hissing. If you are ever driving past the farm (exit 45 southbound on the M1), it’s worth stopping.

Storyboards

April 14, 2008

I’ve just been playing around with storyboards as a break from editing. I’m hoping to make these a regular part of what I can offer people. They’re nice because they can co-ordinate either with the decor of the house they’re going to be displayed in or because they can sample parts of the person’s clothing or background. I’ve done it both ways here with two matching the landscape and one matching her clothes.

Sneaky Peek

Here are a few teasers from yesterday’s session with Maddy. She was such a great model – thanks so much Mad!!

Up, up and away!!!

April 7, 2008

It’s fun to play by the water and we go a couple of afternoons a week to ride bikes/scooters, use the playground equipment and dig for treasure on the beach!

Graffiti’s sweet…sometimes

A Couple More…

April 2, 2008

C has not been a willing model since the other day so I waited for her to fall asleep to play:) The room was quite dark which gave me a chance to check out how my new 40D handles the high ISOs. These were shot at ISO 1600 with a SS of 50-60. Both on my 50mm. They were a little grainy so I figured now would be a good time to learn about using textures in PS. I don’t mind how these turned out. One of the textures had a yellow tint to it so the colour differs between shots. The angles were a little unflattering too as her hair had fallen back and exposed her baldy baby head (I believe those genetics are from my end of the pool…her hair will thicken up one day the poor lamb!)
